IN THE PYRENEES, EXPANSIVE GLAZING TO LIVE WITHIN THE LANDSCAPE
Nestled in the natural setting of the Pyrenees, this project was born from the desire to create a home capable of engaging authentically with the landscape, without separating the comfort of the interiors from the quiet strength of the surrounding environment. The project involved the construction of an entirely new extension, built from the ground up using bio-building methods and joined to the pre-existing house in a carefully balanced combination of construction innovation, respect for the setting, and architectural continuity.
The intervention went beyond the construction of the new volume alone and also required significant preliminary excavation and utility preparation work, necessary to efficiently integrate all technical systems, from water and electrical installations to the essential features required for contemporary living comfort. It was a structured and comprehensive undertaking, designed to ensure functionality, efficiency, and long-term durability.
Stone, wood, and large glazed surfaces define a warm, tactile architecture, perfectly integrated into the natural context that surrounds it. At the heart of the project is the suspended fireplace, a striking yet functional presence around which the entire living area takes shape. Positioned at the center of the space, the fireplace organizes the views, warms the atmosphere, and transforms the living room into a place for gathering, contemplation, and wellbeing.
The expansive glazing represents the perfect connection between indoors and outdoors. Natural light flows through the rooms, enhances the grain of the wood, and opens up uninterrupted views of the mountains and greenery, bringing the landscape into everyday living.
Inside, the project expresses a precise balance between alpine warmth and clean composition. Exposed beams, timber cladding, stone details, and bespoke furnishings create a welcoming atmosphere in which every element is designed to be visually refined and naturally lived in.
The result is a home that does not seek forced effects, but rather a sincere relationship with its place, its materials, and the experience of mountain living. A project that interprets the identity of Dall’Albero all’Arte through a language shaped by setting, character, functionality, and attention to detail.
